By: TomJanuary 1, 2024
Are you wondering if it is OK to feed your dog hemp seeds? As proud parents of two wonderful canine children, we were equally inquisitive. After all, the revelation that hemp seeds are a natural supper food for people has caused quite a stir. So, why not dogs right? As it turns out, our assumption was correct. Not only can dogs eat hemp seeds, they reap many of the same benefits as humans. Although hemp is in the cannabis family, it has only scarce amounts of THC and no psychoactive effects. Hemp seeds are rich in nutrients, minerals and dietary fiber. Best of all, they are safe and effective for our beloved four legged friends.

But, before you start adding hemp seeds or hemp seed oils to your dog's daily diet, there are important safety precautions to consider. We'll break down all you need to know.

Benefits of Hemp Seeds for Dogs

  • Hemp seeds are loaded with antioxidants - Hemp seeds are rich with essential nutrients like magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron. This can enhance your dogs immune system, helping to keep man's best friend healthy and happy.
  • Reduce inflammation - inflammation is common in older dogs due to arthritis. Hemp seed oil is a natural way to make senior dogs more comfortable by reducing inflammation.
